Can I preview RAW files for free?
Yes. The free version of Parallel Media Encoder can import and preview Blackmagic RAW, RED R3D, ARRIRAW, ARRI HDE, Canon Cinema RAW Light (.CRM), and ProRes RAW files with full metadata display. Encoding RAW files requires Pro ($39, one-time).
Which Blackmagic cameras are supported?
All cameras that record Blackmagic RAW (BRAW) are supported, including Pocket Cinema Camera 4K and 6K, URSA Mini Pro, URSA Mini Pro 12K, and URSA Broadcast G2. PME uses the Blackmagic RAW SDK for accurate decode.
Which RED cameras are supported?
All RED cameras that record R3D files are supported, including Komodo, Komodo-X, V-Raptor, V-Raptor XL, DSMC2 (Monstro, Helium, Gemini), and DSMC3. Multi-scale decode is supported for faster preview at reduced resolutions.
Can I apply a LUT during conversion?
Yes. Pro supports applying .cube 3D LUT files during transcode. You can preview the LUT before encoding and even bake it into a custom preset for one-click workflows.
Does PME support ARRI cameras?
Yes. ARRIRAW, ARRI HDE, and ARRICORE MXFs from the ALEXA 35, Mini LF, ALEXA Mini, and SXT/XT are all supported via the official ARRI Image SDK. Full LogC3/LogC4 color pipeline, embedded ARRI look (ALF) application, and 70+ metadata fields preserved. See the dedicated ARRI transcoding page for the full details.
Does PME support Canon Cinema RAW Light (.CRM)?
Yes. Cinema RAW Light .CRM files from the Canon EOS C500 Mark II, C300 Mark III, C70, EOS R5 C, C200, and C700 FF are decoded through Canon's official Cinema RAW Development SDK. You get full Canon Log / Log 2 / Log 3 color, every Canon gamut, exposure and white-balance control, and anamorphic desqueeze. See the dedicated Canon RAW transcoding page for the full details.
What output formats are available for RAW?
RAW files can be encoded to Apple ProRes (Proxy through 4444 XQ), H.265/HEVC (including Main10 4:2:2), H.264, and DNxHR/DNxHD. All output codecs are available with a Pro license.
Is there a command-line option?
Yes. The pme transcode CLI command supports RAW files with --lut and --codec flags. You can also use the REST API service mode for automated pipeline integration.
